Ask and Learn more, Assume Less

Be a story teller make yourself open enough let people understand and relate to your story.

So, Here goes my story:

From a very young age I wanted to do job in an IT company because Software engineer was a “hotshot” profile during my childhood. Fast-forwarding to present….Hurray!! I made come true. But I was too naïve, thought I should do my work sincerely and rest will fall in place. Now when I look back I realize the promotions that should have been given to me long back are still awaiting for me, just because I thought I was too unskilled to ask for it. I kept reassuring myself that this is the last time I am filling my accomplishment list for this company, that I will do better in next one but years passed in a blur and I am still in the same place.

Now after analyzing my mistakes, I would like to give this tip to my present and future self as it is a great learning for working in any industry. Remember that, just coming daily to work, doing your job sincerely, achieving the targets given to you, may help you in keeping your current job. But if you want to grow through it then always be aware of below four questions:

  1. Where you are ?
  2. Why you are there?
  3. Where you want to go?
  4. How can you grow through it?

And the most simple way to know answers to those questions is “stay curious”, “ask more”, “read more about insights and processes” so that you can prepare for your “would be” position in advance and last but not the least “assume less”. The more you figure out answers to these questions the more you will be on the way to succeed.

PS: Don’t beat yourself too much. Life happens. Embrace it, learn from it and come back with a bang.
